Peanut (Arachis hypogaea)

Groundnut or peanut it is the main cash crop in the gambia.well in the process of groundnut cultivation, just before the raining season the farmers will clear their fields through the ( blash and burns methods) then they brush the field.hopefully in time for the first rainfall.as soon as the rain start the fields are ploughed and the seeds nuts are sown.just before the end of the raining season it is groundnut harvesting time.the plants themselves are uprooted and laid on a raised platforms to dry out.once they are dried out the plant is thrashed to release the nuts.
