Thermometer is an instrument that is used to measure temperature (the hotness or coldness) of a particularly place or a substance. A thermometer has two important elements 1- a temperature senso in which some physical changes occurs with the temperature. 2- some means of converting the physical changes into a numerical value. There are various principles by which different thermometers operate.they include thermal expansion of solids or liquids with temperature, or the change in pressure of a gas on heating or cooling.Radiation-type thermometers measures the infrared energy emitted by an object, allowing measurement of temperature without contact.
